Hotel Bay Tree description

An enchanting Cotswold retreat in the picturesque town of Burford, few could resist the rustic charm of this 16th century residence, whether it is for a leisure break, business trip or special occasion.

Bay Tree won Small Hotel of the Year at the National Enjoy England Excellence Awards 2011. The hotel also has a Gold Award for Excellence from Enjoy England.

The Bay Tree is steeped in history and awash with character, from the foundations of its mellow stone walls - clad with pinkish-purple wisteria blooms - to its wooden beam rafters. Oak-panelled public rooms, bare stone walls and original stone fireplaces, including an inglenook fireplace, provide a textured canvas upon which rich fabrics, woven tapestries and antiques have been laid down with exquisite flair.

For your relaxation, you can select a good book from the hotel library, sink back into a comfortable chair and allow the stresses of everyday life to gradually seep away in front of a roaring log fire. In the summer months, the tranquillity of the walled gardens make for a relaxing haven where you can enjoy a refreshing drink on a warm evening.

Hotel Information

If you're heading to the Cotswolds on business, you will also discover the Bay Tree to be a superb choice for an uninterrupted meeting in a peaceful environment. The hotel has a choice of three meeting rooms, each with its own character.

The Conservatory opens onto walled gardens and is an inspired conference venue for up to 40 delegates. The Hawthorne room, with its original open fireplace and ancient oak table, is an excellent venue for boardroom meetings.

Surrounding Area

Regarded as the southern gateway to the Cotswolds, Burford houses an array of historic structures which straddle the streets and lanes, many harbouring antique shops. Sheep Street, the focal point of the town, sweeps steeply down to the pretty River Windrush which is spanned by a single-track stone bridge.

Set off Burford's award-winning High Street, the hotel is also within easy reach of Cheltenham for Gold Cup races (20 miles).
