Hastings offers plenty to sea and do for everyone. Hastings Old Town offers a mix of art galleries and antique shops. The Old Town is also home to Rock-a-Nore, an area that is home to Europe?s largest beach-based fishing fleet. Also in the area, the East Hill Lift is Britain's steepest funicular railway. The railway runs up to the country park, which boasts miles of stunning cliff-top walks. Alternatively, you could simply wander along the beach, with its huge stretches of flat sand at low tide, and watch the sunset behind Hastings Pier.
Hastings also makes a great base from which to explore the historic and charming villages of Rye, Battle and Winchelsea. Rye is just 20 minutes away and Brighton is only an hour away. The internationally famous Art Deco De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill is only 5 miles (8 km) away.
