The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (27 km / 17 miles) - the country?s most popular heritage steam railway, providing access to such locations as Goathland (better known as the fictional Aidensfield in the ITV series 'Heartbeat') and Grosmont, a genuine 1950s railway junction where you rest at the station cafe and visit the engine sheds and view the locomotives undergoing restoration.

Eden Camp (35 km / 22 miles) - billed as "The only modern history theme museum of its type in the world", the award winning Eden Camp will transport you back to wartime Britain.

York (64 km / 40 miles) - within the walls of this historic city you can step inside the Gothic splendour of York Minster; revel in York's Roman heritage at the Yorkshire Museum; explore Viking York at the Jorvik Centre and visit the fascinating National Railway Museum, York Castle Museum and York Dungeon.

By car:
From the South:
- Follow the A64 into Scarborough follow signs for North Bay.
- When you reach Peasholm Park heading towards Whitby on the A171, turn left at the large roundabout up the hill.
- As you drive up the hill, with the park on your left, the Manor Heath is on your right looking down the hill.

From the North:
- Take the A171 towards Scarborough.
- Approach the North Bay, and follow the directions as outlined above.

By train:
From Scarborough Station (2 km / 1.3 miles):
It is advisable to complete this journey via a taxi, which can usually be obtained from the station. The cost should be around 5 GBP.
