The Mill House Hotel is the leading independent family owned country house hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds. This superbly converted stone mill house, dating back to the Domesday Book of 1086, is set in 10 acres of fabulous lawned gardens in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The hotel is within easy travelling distance of many of England's finest attractions.
The 23 luxurious en suite bedrooms have views over the hotel gardens, the Cornwell Brook, and the Cotswold Hills. The wide range of facilities that the hotel offers make it an ideal choice for holidays, leisure breaks, wedding receptions, conferences, functions, parties and celebrations of all descriptions.
At lunchtime we now serve a 2 course lunch either in the Mill Brook Room restaurant or the Mill Stream bar. A wide range of light lunches and bar snacks are always available. During winter, we have a log fire burning in the inglenook fireplace.
The Mill House is a pet friendly hotel and dogs are more than welcome but not in public areas please.
A complimentary chauffeur driven limousine service is offered to and from Kingham rail station, which is on the Intercity main line between London Paddington and Worcester
Transport
From Stratford-Upon-Avon or Banbury:
- Proceed to Chipping Norton, continuiing straight through High Street to the B4450.
- After some 2.5 miles, go through the village of Churchill ignoring all signs right to Kingham.
- After the brown tourist board sign for the Mill House Hotel, take the next turning right (2 miles past Churchill) and the Mill House Hotel is down the hill on the right hand side.
From the M5 motorway:
- Exit at junction 9 (Tewkesbury) and immediately take the A46, then the B4077 for Stow-on-the-Wold.
- From Stow, take the A436 signed Chipping Norton.
- About 1.5 miles out of Stow, fork right signed Bledington and Kingham (B4450).
- Pass through the village of Bledington and about 2 miles on pass Kingham Station on your left.
- Take the next turning left and the Mill House is down the hill on the right hand side.
From London:
- Take the A40 / M40 westwards and exit at junction 8 signed A40 Oxford and Witney.
- Continue for Cheltenham (still on the A40) and turn right at a large roundabout signed Burford.
- Continue downhill through the main street, cross the one-way river bridge at the bottom of High Street and immediately fork right signed Chipping Norton.
- Go through the village of Shipton-under-Wychwood and after passing the station about a mile out of the village, take the next turning left signed Lyneham and Kingham.
- Carry straight on this road for some 2.5 miles until you come to a T-junction.
- Turn left, then take the 1st right and the Mill house Hotel is down the hill on the right hand side.
By Rail:
Kingham is on the Paddington-Oxford-Worcester-Hereford main line and is 1 hour 15 minutes by fast train from Paddington. Phone the hotel from Kingham Station telephone box on arrival and our car will collect you free of charge. Our number is displayed on the confirmation email you will receive.
By Air:
London Heathrow Airport is a 1 hour 30 minutes journey by car. By coach, travel from Heathrow to Reading station and connecting with the Main Line Intercity to Kingham.

Restaurants
The Mill Brook Restaurant offers an a La Carte menu created by Head Chef Matt Dare. With a wealth of experience, Matt has worked in a number of two-AA-rosetted restaurants. Matt aims wherever possible to use suppliers from the surrounding area, he always sources the finest possible local and organic ingredients, local meats from Watermoor Meats of Burford, organic fruit and vegetables from A M Bailey of Stratford, fish is delivered daily from Looe Harbour in Cornwall.
You can start with Seared Cornish Hand Dived Scalllops, Cauliflower Mash, Basil Oil, or Wild Mushrooms Soup, Parmesan Ravioli, the move on to Braised Leg and Saddle of Wild Rabbit, Fondant Potato, Basil and Tomato Jus, or Double Baked Stilton Soufflé, Pok Choi & Watercress, Red Pepper Coulis. Then if you still have room you can finish with Hot Chocolate Mousse, Pistachio Ice Cream or a Cheese Board adorned with local cheeses washed down with a glass of the finest port from our well stocked bar.
For those of you looking for a lighter lunch you will be delighted with the two course luncheon menu, which can be enjoyed in the Mill Stream Bar ? Our cosy hideaway becomes very popular on frosty mornings or when rain interrupts a walking trip, this is largely down to the log fire burning. Light snacks and cream teas can be enjoyed in the Cotswold lounge or on days that weather permits the terrace over looking the trout stream.
