Boasting a Silver Rosette from Visit Britain, this beautifully restored Victorian town house provides a convenient location on Valley Road, within easy reach of Scarborough?s amenities and South Bay.

Built in 1888, the Raincliffe Hotel still retains some of its original features. Each room has a TV for guests to enjoy, free Wi-Fi, and facilities for making tea and coffee.

A fresh cooked breakfast is served every morning, with cereals, toast and grapefruit also available. The Raincliffe also has a comfortable lounge and a private bar (the bar is for residents only).

The owners kindly request that you respect other guests, and guests are expected to keep noise to a minimum after 22:00. Similarly, no group bookings/stag or hen parties can be accommodated.

Please note that there are 7 steps to the entrance of the hotel and only one ground-floor room is available. The majority of bedrooms are situated on the 1st and 2nd floors.

For moments of relaxation, the hotel provides a comfortable lounge and a private bar. Please note that due to fire regulations, the bar is for residents only. Visitors are only permitted in the lounge, but can be accommodated in the bar if approved by the owners.

Surrounding Area

The Spa entertainment complex, futurist theatre, town centre, Italian gardens, esplanade, harbour and Stephen Joseph Theatre are all within easy walking distance (less than 10 minutes) along an almost level approach along Valley Road. An open-top bus runs daily between North Bay (by the sea-life centre) and the spa.

Main routes to Pickering, York, Whitby, Goathland and Filey are all accessible from the junction at the top of Valley Road, making the Raincliffe ideal as a touring base to visit the north Yorkshire Moors and coastline.

Transport

By car:
- Follow signs for South Bay and Spa conference centre.
- When you come into Valley Road, we are opposite the turning for Grosvenor Road and are distinguishable by a large, well lit green sign.

From the train station:
- Turn right at the traffic lights and walk over Valley Bridge.
- Turn left at the end of the bridge, then left again at the roundabout at the bottom of the hill.
- Walk back underneath Valley Bridge and the large green Raincliffe sign can be seen on the left as you look up the road.

Restaurants

An extensive breakfast is served each morning.

Dinner can be provided on prior request (the evening before or before 10:00 on the day of). If arriving late, the hotel can put sandwiches in your room (on request).

For special occasions, a bottle of wine can be purchased for the room (on prior request).

Special diets can be catered for with prior notice.
