Hotel Rothay Garden Hotel & Riverside Spa description

Nestling in 2 acres of riverside gardens on the edge of picturesque Grasmere village, Rothay Garden Hotel & Riverside Spa is a 4-star hotel with a stylish 2 AA-Rosette restaurant, stunning designer rooms and a riverside spa.

Following a £3 million redevelopment in 2011, each luxurious room features a flat-screen satellite TV and a sleek bathroom with a hairdryer and bathrobes. All rooms have views over the nearby fells and many have a patio or balcony.

Overlooking the hotel gardens, the stylish Garden Restaurant at Rothay Garden provides award-winning food, using local, seasonal produce. A generous Lakeland breakfast is served each morning.

Riverside Spa offers guests an exclusive facility including Hydrospa, a Herbal Pine Sauna, Aromatherapy Room and a Reflexology Walk.

In the English Lake District, Rothay Garden Hotel was built in 1856 and is a short walk from Grasmere?s lake. Rydal Water is just 1.5 miles away and Ambleside, Windermere and Kendal are within easy reach.

Hotel Information

Built in 1856, Rothay Garden has been updated to offer a luxurious 4 star hotel in beautiful Grasmere.

Surrounding Area

The English Lake District has some of the most spectacular scenery and offers no shortage of things to do. Activities range from walking, cycling, sailing, climbing and water-skiing to hot air ballooning.

In addition to this, there are an array of attractions to visit including historic houses and gardens, castles and leisurely lake cruises, homes of famous literary figures such as Beatrix Potter's Hilltop (6 km/ 3,7 miles), John Ruskin's Brantwood on Coniston Water (10 km/ 6.2 miles) which was home of the art critic, writer and philosopher, and of course William Wordsworth's homes can all be visited: Wordsworth House (0.2 km), Dove Cottage (0.2 km) and Rydal Mount (2 km).

Transport

From the North & North East, exit M6 at junction 40 (Penrith), take A66 west to Keswick, then south on A591 to Grasmere.

Restaurants

Unlike a traditional hotel restaurant, the Conservatory Restaurant at Rothay Garden is an attraction in its own right. The restaurant has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for the outstanding preparation of its food and the good quality of the ingredients it uses. The restaurant provides an impressive setting in which to enjoy the delicious food, with contemporary furniture, clean elegant lines and great views overlooking the hotel's 2 acres of gardens. The hotel's kitchens are managed by head chef Andrew Burton, who has been at the hotel with Chris Carss for 17 years and is one of only 300 Masterchefs of Great Britain.
