Special requests, for example champagne and flowers, can be arranged, as can suggestions for your day out, or tickets booked, as there are a good selection of theatres nearby.
Breakfast can be as large or as light as you wish, with a good selection of fruit, cereals, and cooked breakfast available (this can be served in your room, an extra charge applies). Evening meals are freshly cooked and available any night except Sunday. You may wish to take a packed lunch with you through the day and these can be ordered the night before to be ready after breakfast.
Surrounding Area
Ambleside is a small town in the centre of the English Lake District, surrounded by fells, with lakes in all directions. The buses come through Ambleside, making it a very convenient location for visiting the surrounding area. There are tennis courts, putting green, a bowling green and mountain bike hire very close by.
Ambleside is a wonderful centre for the variety of restaurants and bistros to enjoy, with a number of pubs to frequent for the thirsty. Whilst there is not a great nightlife, you will find a warm and friendly atmosphere is here.
Less than a mile in either direction will bring you to either Lake Windermere or Rydal Water. If you enjoy reading, the homes of Wordsworth, Ruskin and Beatrix Potter are close by and are well worth a visit.
Transport
By Car (from the M6):
- Leave the M6 at junction 36, (South Lakes) and follow the signs for Windermere and Keswick.
- Do not turn off this road; it will bring you straight into Ambleside.
- When you arrive in Ambleside follow the signs towards Keswick and you will enter the one way system.
- When passing the tennis courts and putting green on your left, stay in the left hand lane, this will bring you onto Compston Road, we are about half way up on the right hand side, just before the pedestrian lights.
By Train:
- Take the West Coast Mainline to Oxenholme/Windermere.
- Buses stop outside the train station to bring you into Ambleside; we are short walk from the bus stop.
By Bus:
- All buses stop in the centre of Ambleside; we are a very short walk from the bus stop.
