Hotel The Elmfield description

With beautiful gardens and lovely views, this lovingly restored Victorian villa houses a friendly, family-run hotel, which offers impressive leisure facilities usually found only in larger hotels.

Standing in an acre of its own beautifully kept gardens, the Elmfield combines contemporary style with a classic twist. The hotel has an impressive indoor heated swimming pool with a sauna and spa bath, as well as a well-equipped games room and a playroom for all ages with a movie-lounge.

A breakfast of fresh, local produce is available in the sunny dining room at the Elmfield. Dinner is only available by special arrangement.

The hotel offers guests a well stocked honesty bar, with an extensive selection of wines.

Surrounded by stunning coastline and just minutes from the tunnel beaches and the gastronomic delights of the very heart of Ilfracombe, the Elmfield Hotel is the ideal base for a holiday in North Devon.

Hotel Information

The Elmfield offers the best of all worlds, with all the facilities of a luxury hotel and the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere of a friendly, family home. The hotel is an exceptional place, where everyone can expect relaxation, luxury and fun.

In the main building, there is a fully licensed bar and a games room with a pool table. The comfortable family lounge transforms into a cosy cinema in the evening. Nestled in the hotel's peaceful gardens, the pool house houses the heated indoor swimming pool, a spa bath, a sauna and a mini-gym.

Guests have full use of the facilities, plus privileged access to many local attractions. A stay at the Elmfield can even include in-room treatments, such as aromatherapy massages, an evening out whilst the children are looked after by a qualified nanny or a fabulous walk or day at the beach with a packed picnic hamper.

To keep the young, active minds occupied whilst parents relax, activities and workshops are organised for children of all ages during the school holidays (advance booking may be required). Activities include pizza parties and music and drama workshops, as well as filmmaking for older children.

The Elmfield aims for everyone to enjoy their holiday, whatever age, young or old.

Surrounding Area

Ilfracombe and the rugged Golden Coast of North Devon have something to offer everyone. Ilfracombe is the leading resort in the region and there is plenty to see and do, with snooker clubs, a cinema, a theatre, discos, a heated swimming pool, a paddling pool, bathing beaches, an 18-hole golf course and a 9-hole pitch and putt course. During the summer season, the resort offers a full programme of entertainment.

If you are at all interested in being outside, Ilfracombe covers almost every field of activity you can think of, from the fabulous Torrs walks, to sea kayaking, fishing, golfing, surfing at nearby beaches, and quad biking for those who prefer to see the countryside at high speed!

The surrounding countryside is indeed spectacular, with sea views, cliff walks and coastal drives. To the west are Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton, with surfing, bathing and miles of sandy beaches. All the facilities of Barnstaple, North Devon's market town, are just beyond. To the east are Combe Martin, Lynton, Lynmouth and Exmoor, a sight to behold in summer and autumn when nature changes its colours. With historic churches, stately mansions, traditional markets and quiet coves, there are many good reasons why the region is known as the Golden Coast.

Ilfracombe is also a hidden gem for foodies, with a bewildering array of fine restaurants. You have the choice of a stylish lunch at the Quay or delicious and sophisticated modern European dinner for 2 at the Gendarmerie or one of the other superb restaurants on Fore Street. However, if you fancy a freshly baked hand-made pizza, a fine curry, or simply well-cooked fish and chips, there is something for everyone and every budget without compromising on quality.
