Hotel The George In Rye description

This luxury, stylish hideaway is located in the centre of Rye and offers elegant, well-designed rooms, local wines and a restaurant menu infused with Mediterranean zest.

The George presents a comfortable blend of old and new, creating an atmosphere which is relaxed, informal and individual. Dating from 1575, it has an enviable heritage, and even an original Georgian ballroom used for lavish weddings and banquets.

The main focus of the bedrooms is comfort and style, each being individually designed with its own fabrics, colour scheme and bespoke furniture. Indulge yourself with the marble-top baths with chrome power showers and Aveda products.

Restaurants

The restaurant and bar form the heart of the hotel. The head chef, Rod Grossmann, previously worked at Moro in London. The menu has Mediterranean influences and the food is presented simply, with great respect for fresh and seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and the trawlers of Rye Bay. The bar also offers a large range of wines and champagnes by the glass, including those from vineyards in East Sussex and Kent.
