Windermere The Willowsmere

This guest house was built in the 19th-century using Lakeland stone. The Willowsmere is a grand Victorian residence offerings rooms with views and free use of nearby leisure facilities.

All rooms are double-glazed and have fluffy towels and superior toiletries. They have views either to the front towards Orrest Head viewpoint or to the rear overlooking the award-winning landscaped gardens.

The Willowsmere has 2 guest lounges and a hidden garden, where guests can enjoy a drink from the well-stocked cellar.

Regular buses pass the guest house and Windermere Station is only a 10-minute walk away. Lake Windermere can be reached in 10 minutes too.

All guests get free use of the Windermere Manor Leisure Facilities, which are a 5-minute walk away and include an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a solarium.

Hotel Information

Our typical stone house was built in 1850 and used to be the home of a wealthy Victorian family. Now it offers the charm of a historical building as well as the modern comfort of an excellent English guest house.

Transport

From the South:
- Follow the M6 north, exit at junction 36 and follow the A591 for Windermere.
- At Windermere continue on the A591 for Ambleside and we are situated on the left 200 metres after St Mary's Church.

From the North:
- Follow the M6 south, exit at junction 40 and follow the A66 for Keswick.
- Follow the A591 south past Lake Thirlmere and Grasmere to Windermere. - At the mini roundabout continue straight on, and we are situated on the right just a few hundred metres beyond the junction.

By coach and rail:
Regular buses pass the guest house, and Windermere station is only a 10 minute walk away, which connects quickly with the main west coast Inter-City line at Oxenholme, Kendal.

We have been awarded the AA Breakfast Award.

We are a licensed premises and serve drinks in the lounges or garden until 20:00.
