Hotel Information

Westaway is a large detached house, standing amid half an acre of its own grounds on the edge of the town centre. Our bar, one of the prettiest in the business, is fully licensed and available to guests at any reasonable time. We serve a good range of drinks in a comfortable lounge, with a wide-screen digital television and a good selection of videos and books.

The whole house has a modern central heating system, and there is a limitless supply of hot water.

Our guests are free to come and go as they please during their stay.

Smoking is not permitted in any part of the house, but guests are welcome to smoke in the garden.

Surrounding Area

You will find a wealth of distractions right on our doorstep. Right next door is the famous (and award-winning) Tunnels Beaches, with their licensed Cafe Blue Bar, safe bathing and rock-pools.

The town centre, with all its entertainment facilities, numerous restaurants and nightlife, is just a 5-minute walk away, as is Ilfracombe's picturesque harbour. Here you may catch a boat and go on a deep sea fishing trip; take a day trip to South Wales or Lundy Island; or just cruise along the Exmoor coast.

A quick walk up the hill and you're on the spectacular cliff top walk along the Torrs to Lee, Mortehoe and Woolacombe, part of the South West Coastal Path. Lynton and Lynmouth, in the opposite direction along the Coastal Path, is a day's walk for the brave.

The spectacular scenery of Exmoor, one of the top Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the British Isles, with its walks, picnic areas and country pubs, is 20-minutes away by car. Barnstaple, North Devon's largest town, is a short drive or bus ride from Ilfracombe.

The miles of golden, sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands are within easy reach. These are among the top surfing beaches in the world, and are also safe for family bathing.

There is a wide range of attractions for all ages and interests in close proximity, including Watermouth Castle, Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Exmoor Zoo, to name but a few.

Transport

You can travel to North Devon by exiting from the M5 at junction 27 (Tiverton). Take the A361 heading for Barnstaple.
